I am thrilled to share that I will be studying abroad through Auburn University this summer. I will be in Seville, Spain from May 16th to June 15th.
In order to prepare for this experience, there are many things that I have thought about and done in order to hop off the plane ready to learn and appreciate the rich culture of Spain and Morocco, where we will also be visiting for a weekend.
The first thing I did to prepare for my study abroad experience was speak to some of my friends who participated in this experience last year. I had two very close friends who gave me great advice about what to pack, overall expectations, and how much money to expect to spend. Hearing first-hand advice from someone who has done this exact same program before was very beneficial and helped me to prepare in an authentic and confident way.
Another way that I chose to prepare for my study abroad experience was ordering some clothes that would be comfortable and stylish for my trip. Like many Americans, I tend to wear my athletic wear nearly everywhere I go. I wanted to attempt to blend into Seville locals, so I spent around $100 buying skirts and a few more basic tops to mix and match my outfits. By buying and packing clothes I felt confident in wearing, I was able to personalize the way I prepared for my study abroad experience.
These are only a few steps that I have taken to make sure that I am prepared to visit the beautiful country of Spain. I have made plans to travel there with other students in my program and am very excited to get to know them and my professors more.
